Young Cricket's artwork for WarioWare: Smooth Moves, his debut appearance

Young Cricket is either an older teenager or an adult. He has spiky black hair with white tips and oval eyes. In his earlier appearances, Young Cricket has a brown eye color, but in Game & Wario, they were changed to black.

Young Cricket's usual clothing consists of a blue martial artist jacket, blue loose-fitting pants, with blue and white shoes, and silver martial artist armbands. The details to Young Cricket's jacket includes white buttons in the front, a white stripe wrapping around the bottom, and two short stripes on the sides of his body.

In WarioWare: Get It Together!, his armbands are removed during the Sports intro cutscene, revealing that his arms are somewhat muscular. In addition, his hair is slightly altered; it is shorter in the back, and the white tips on the sides of his hair are more to the side rather than all around it. In one of the character gallery artwork, he is shown to be wearing a black shirt and a wraparound under his jacket.

As a child, Young Cricket wears a blue sleeveless shirt, blue shorts, and blue shoes. He also lacks any white markings on his hair.

Personality traits[]

Young Cricket is heavily devoted to martial arts. He also loves meat dumplings, which is especially evident in the WarioWare: Smooth Moves stage Enter Young Cricket, and Game & Wario's Kung Fu minigame. Also, the Meat Dumpling Prezzy in WarioWare: Get It Together! is one of his most favorite. In another reference to his favorite food, Young Cricket's spirit in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate has an Item Tidal Wave of dumplings specifically.

When he was first introduced, he appeared to be a rather serious character, as seen from him training in difficult conditions. Later on, it is shown that Young Cricket fits in with the other employees of WarioWare, Inc., where he works at. In WarioWare Gold, Young Cricket's serious personality remains, but for comedic effect, as he even goes as far as to "train" at the Diamond City Amusement Park.

Powers and abilities[]

Since Young Cricket is a martial artist, he knows a variety of kung-fu moves, including the Precious Prancing Pounce and We-Yu-Ken. Young Cricket is also skilled in jumping, being able to jump several feet high, as shown in both the Kung Fu game mode in Game & Wario and WarioWare: Get It Together! In the latter, Young Cricket is shown to be an excellent runner as well.

Young Cricket and Master Mantis have their own stage, Enter Young Cricket, although Young Cricket is the one specifically named.

During the stage's opening cutscene, as Young Cricket and Master Mantis head down Park Street, Young Cricket's stomach growls and he says that he is hungry. Soon, he smells dumplings being served at a nearby food stand, run by Manager Joe and Mona. Cricket starts running on the Park Street Residents' heads to the front of the line. In the ending cutscene, Young Cricket makes it over to the front of the line, where he asks for two dumplings. However, Young Cricket finds that everyone whom he stepped on are all angry at him, because he ran on them to skip to the front of the line. Young Cricket apologizes, only to then run on the characters' heads again to return to Master Mantis, telling him that they should wait in line.
