Yoshi's Island is where the golf course of the same name takes place. It is mainly bumpy and has holes where the golf ball has to be shot over the water to avoid an O.B. water hazard penalty. The course's wind speed can go up to 32 kilometers per hour, and it has occasional rain that slows down shots.

Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time[]

Yoshi's Island is an accessible area during the past. There is a village inhabited by Yoshis, and the eggshell of the Yoob, a Shroobified massive Yoshi, is present. Like other past areas, Yoshi's Island is not accessible during the present.

During the game's events, Yoshi's Island is attacked by Yoob and the Shroobs. The Mario Bros.Mario, Luigi, Baby Mario, and Baby Luigi—travel here from the time hole in the library on the second floor of Peach's Castle, some time after the first two Cobalt Shards were stolen by Baby Bowser.

While on Yoshi's Island, the Mario Bros. meet a reporter called Kylie Koopa, find that Yoob is attacking the town, and they also meet Baby Bowser and the young Kamek, whom they chase after to the top of the mountain. Yoshi statues appear around Yoshi's Island, one of which has a hole from which the spring water comes out of, and Baby Mario can drink it to become Pump Mario.

At first, Kamek is seen collecting Yoshi Cookies for Baby Bowser. As the Mario Bros. go after the two, they use several techniques such as Pump Mario and Spin Jump to progress on the mountain. Upon reaching the top, when Mario and Luigi ask Baby Bowser for the shards, Baby Luigi and Baby Mario eat all of Baby Bowser's cookies, infuriating Baby Bowser and triggering a boss fight. The Mario Bros. later chase Baby Bowser to a dead end, but before they can get the shard from Baby Bowser, Yoob shows up and eats all of the five characters, and a remainder

The Mario Bros.' journey continues inside of Yoob's body up until they defeat Sunnycide in Yoob's Belly. In doing so, the four Mario Bros., Baby Bowser, Toadbert and any Yoshis eaten by Yoob escape from Yoob's digestive tract and return back out onto Yoshi's Island. The two Cobalt Shards come to life, hit Baby Bowser, and fling him off the Yoshi's Island, then they come into Baby Mario and Baby Luigi's possession. Yoob falls asleep on the mountain cliff, and there is the option to explore his belly again at any point. Toadbert decides to relax on Yoshi's Island, until he is hit by Kylie Koopa later on.

In the opening cutscene, Baby Mario fell down to Yoshi's Island after the Stork carrying him and Baby Luigi was attacked by Kamek. By stroke of a luck, Baby Mario landed on Green Yoshi's back.

When starting a new game file, the Yoshis are shown in having a short meeting, trying to figure out what to do with Baby Mario, but they eventually decide to team up to help Baby Mario reunite with Baby Luigi.

During gameplay, the Yoshis had to take Baby Mario through six worlds, with the first five taking place on Yoshi's Island: World 1, a grassland area; World 2, a mountainous area; World 3, a jungle area; World 4, a sunset landscape; and World 5, an icy area. After completing World 5, a short scene is shown in which Yoshi teleports over to the final world, World 6.

In the ending, when Baby Luigi is rescued, the Yoshis bid farewell to Baby Mario and Baby Luigi as the Stork flies away to take them home to their parents.

Yoshi's Island DS[]

Yoshi's Island returns as the main setting. Kamek began to kidnap babies from around the world. The Stork arrived on time to rescue Baby Mario and Baby Peach. The Yoshis decided to help Baby Mario rescue Baby Luigi, along with the rest of the kidnapped babies. They go through five worlds, all of which are different than in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island: World 1, a grassland area, similarly to the predecessor; World 2, a jungle area, World 3, a beach area; World 4, a sky area; and lastly World 5, a gloomy island.

Unlike the previous adventure, the Yoshis transport more babies throughout Yoshi's Island than just Baby Mario, who is first used in the tutorial level, Welcome Back to Yoshi's Island!. The second baby the Yoshis discover is Baby Peach, in Catch the Breeze. The third baby is Baby DK, whom they find in Baby DK, the Jungle King!. The fourth baby is Baby Wario, found in Heeeeeeere's Wario!. Lastly, there is Baby Bowser, found in Friend or Foe?.

Baby Bowser originally joined the Yoshis because of an argument, around the time it was revealed that the Kamek from the future and adult Bowser were after the Star Children, hence why they were kidnapping several of the babies. By the time Yoshi reached the end of Bowser's Castle, Baby Bowser betrayed the Yoshis and the other babies. After Baby Bowser was defeated, the four babies all worked together to defeat an enlarged Bowser and rescue Baby Luigi. Following this, peace returned to Yoshi's Island once more.

The game features a different Yoshi's Island stage that references the Yoshi's Island from Super Mario World. Lining one side of the stage is a sideways Warp Pipe, with a hill on the other side. There are also Rotating Blocks that can be jumped onto, but if they are hit, fighters can fall through the blocks until they stop spinning.

There are a few background elements, such as a Fishin' Lakitu dangling a 1-Up Mushroom from its fishing rod and a Banzai Bill, but neither of them affect the gameplay. Unlike Super Mario World itself, Fishin' Lakitus do not appear in the Yoshi's Island world.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl[]

The game features another Yoshi's Island stage, with this one being based on the iteration of Yoshi's Island introduced in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island. The Yoshi's Island from Super Smash Bros. Melee also returns as one of the Melee Stages.
