Yamamura is a non-playable character who appears in Super Mario Maker, Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS, and Super Mario Maker 2.

Physical description[]

Yamamura is a male pigeon with dark teal feathers on his head, green and purple feathers on his neck, and the rest of his neck covered with blue leaves. He has yellow eyes, a short beak, and Mario's emblem on his breast.

In Super Mario series[]

Super Mario Maker[]

Yamamura created levels that are a part of the official levels in Super Mario Maker, these levels are edited versions of Mary O.'s levels.

He also challenged Mary O. to create a level as a contest for a New Years Contest in 2016 and won, he got 13% stars per Play while Mary O. got 7% stars per Play. His gift was a Mystery Mushroom costume of himself that was released on January 12, 2016. Players can achieve this costume by completing the "Cooooo! (Feat. Yamamura)" Event Course.

Super Mario Maker for Nintendo 3DS[]

Yamamura is a mentor who teaches the player how to build courses in Yamamura's Lessons and also explains some unlocked parts in Super Mario Challenge Mode.

Super Mario Maker 2[]

Yamamura has the same role as the 3DS port game, but instead of Mary O., Nina becomes her assistant. He can be found in Yamamura's Dojo.

Yamamura also appears in Story Mode; he first appears after Mario uses the West Hall Cannon, giving him his first job, he then reappears when Mario uses the East Hall Doors to go from the second floor to the ground floor and gives Mario his second job. His final appearance is when Mario completes Undodog's second job. Yamamura gives Mario his last job in which he gets awarded with the Yamamura shirt.

Etymology[]

Yamamura was named after a Nintendo level designer called Yasuhisa Yamamura, who is a veteran in his job. Yamamura is also described to be excellent in course making.
