Super Mario

Wubbas are an enemy in Super Mario Bros. Wonder. They are featured prominently in the level bearing their name An Uncharted Area: Wubba Ruins, although the character can turn into them with Wonder Effects in many different levels.

Profile[]

Physical description[]

Wubbas are light green blob enemies made out of a slimy goo-like substance. They are about as tall as Mario is in his Super form. Their eyes consist of black sclerae and yellow pupils.

Behaviour[]

Wubbas pace back and forth in their territory and swim through goo.

In Super Mario Bros. Wonder[]

Wubbas make their debut appearance in the level An Uncharted Area: Wubba Ruins, and the level KO Arena Fungi Funk is the last level to feature them.

Mario can transform into a Wubba via a Wonder Effect, looking like them albeit red in colour and a nose with his signature moustache beneath his eyes and with his cap intact. In this form, he can stick to walls.

Trivia[]

Nomenclature[]

In Japanese, Wubbas are called Purupuru (written プルプル) means "jiggly," their name matching that of the Purupuru from the Donkey Kong game for the Game Boy. In Chinese, they are called Tántánjiāo (written 弹弹胶), which means "slime." They are called Gélatine in French, meaning "gelatin," and in German, they are called Blobub, derived from the sound of a bubble. In Italian, they are called Gelatino, derived from gelatina ("gelatin"), while in Korean, they are called Taeng'geul-taeng'geul (written 탱글탱글) which is an ideophone for "bouncy." Wubbas have Gelatino for their Portuguese name, from Portuguese gelatina (gelatin), while their Russian name is Zhel'yenovy (written Жельеновы), and the Spanish dub calls them Blublú, derived from the sound of a bubble.
