World 8 is the eighth and final world in the game New Super Mario Bros.. It is unlocked by completing either World 6-Castle or World 7-Castle, or by taking the cannon level unlocked by finding the secret exit in World 5-Ghost House.

Description

This world is spilt into two halves. The first half is a dark forest with mountain cliffs, combining elements from World 4 and World 6's jungle and mountain levels respectively, and features enemies like Boos, Splunkins and Crowbers, and has a few underwater caves levels. There are a total of six levels, four normal levels, a Tower and a Castle level on the first half. There is also one of each type of Toad House, a Mega Mushroom Toad House, a red Toad House, and a 1-Up Toad House.

The second half takes places on a erupting volcano and features four more normal levels, a second Tower, and finally, Bowser's Castle. This world has the most total levels in the game, for a total of twelve levels. Like World 6, there are no secret exits here and has two towers, but World 8 is also the only world without any unlockable courses. The bosses fought here are Bowser Jr., who is fought twice alone, Dry Bowser, and a reincarnated Bowser who fights with his son, Bowser Jr., just as they were the final bosses in Super Mario Sunshine.
