World 5-Fortress is a level found in World 5 in the game New Super Mario Bros. Wii.

Layout[]

Mario begins the level at the bottom of the tower. He must then jump onto platforms with moving, spiked walls on either side. A moving ? Block is found, along with a Dry Bones on a platform. After another ? Block and Dry Bones, Mario comes to the top of the first pair of spiked walls. He must then continue climbing up platforms and moving Brick Blocks while avoiding Dry Bones and spiked walls. Another moving ? Block is found near the top of the spiked wall, followed by an area with the midway point. A Springboard is used to reach a platform surrounded by spiked walls. To the left of the platform, a group of coins and a Hidden Block containing a 1-Up Mushroom are found. Mario must continue climbing platforms, where he find a Red Ring and another Dry Bones. Mario then reaches another area where he must use a Springboard to reach a platform surrounded by spiked walls. After climbing more platforms, Mario reaches the boss door, leading to the battle with Iggy Koopa.

Iggy's arena for the boss fight contains three vertical moving platforms (the first and third going the opposite direction as the second). During the boss fight, Iggy attacks Mario and gang by shooting fast green projectiles from his wand and jumping. If he is hit, he spins in his shell quickly in an attempt to hit the player. Patience is key in this fight, remain a distance from Iggy and jump on him as soon as his platform is lower than yours. Iggy is defeated upon being hit three times.

Enemies[]

Star Coins[]

  • Star Coin 1: Not too far before the midway point, the first Star Coin is floating to the right. Mario and co. should jump from either the nearby row of three Brick Blocks, or the Dry Bones.
  • Star Coin 2: Shortly after the Red Ring, there is a small split path, and the second Star Coin is floating in the left one. Mario and co. should jump to it quickly before the spiked walls start moving right.
  • Star Coin 3: At least a Super Mushroom is required for this one. The third Star Coin is floating to the right of Iggy's door, and is blocked off by Brick Blocks. Mario and co. must break through enough of them to jump up and get the Star Coin.
