World 3 is the third world in New Super Mario Bros.. It is unlocked upon defeating Mummipokey without using Mini Mario/Mini Luigi at World 2-. The boss of this world is Cheepskipper.
Layout[]
Similar to Water Land from Super Mario Bros. 3, World 3 takes place on a costal shore, with underwater and beach levels. There are 3 main levels, 3 bonus levels, a tower, a Ghost House, a Cannon, a castle and 3 Toad Houses. Like with World 2, World 3 also has nine total levels for Mario or Luigi to explore.

World 3- | The first Ghost House in the game is filled with Boos, Splunkins, and ? Switches. Like every other Ghost House, there is a secret exit that unlocks a Warp Cannon to World 6. | |
World 3-Warp Cannon | A Warp Cannon that takes the player to World 6. Mountains can be seen in the background, and there is a Roulette Block towards the far east which contains a Super Mushroom, a Fire Flower, a Starman, and a Blue Shell. | |
World 3-B | This level takes place high in the sky, where piped Piranha Plants live. | |
World 3-C | This level takes place over the water. Like with World 2-A, Mario or Luigi will be endlessly hassled by a Spike Bass. | |
World 3- | This castle level is an aquatic area that prominently features Skewers, and contains the only appearance of Whomps. The boss of this world is Cheepskipper. Due to the connected pathways on the world map, completing the castle will not unlock World 4, but instead, World 5. |
