World 3-Castle is the Castle level of World 3 in the game New Super Mario Bros.

Description[]

This castle prominently features Spike Pillars, one Dry Bones, and also introduces Whomps. The whole castle also has a large body of water underneath.

Walkthrough[]

Starting off, Mario must carefully avoid the first segment of Spike Pillars whilst jumping onto platforms. In between the second and third Spike Pillars, you can get a Super Mushroom or Fire Flower from the blue ? Block. Once you encounter the fifth Spike Pillar, enter the small alcove to get the first Star Coin. Then jump out and avoid the Dry Bones and next two Spike Pillars by quickly jumping across the Donut Blocks.

Upon reaching the Checkpoint Flag, you'll find another blue ? Block with another Super Mushroom or Fire Flower, and you'll also come across Whomps, which they'll try to slam onto the ground to try and hit Mario. Once they're immobile, Mario can Ground Pound them to destroy them. Don't destroy the third Whomp across though, as it is standing above spikes, and acts as a safety net to grabbing the second Star Coin. First, grab onto a pole, then cross over the Dount Blocks and swing onto the rope, not hitting the Big Whomp and jumping west to reach some stone blocks higher up. Jump up off-screen and continue going west until you get the second Star Coin, and land on the Whomp safely.

Continue progressing the level as normal, and quickly rush through the cluster of Spike Pillars. Before entering the boss door, swim underneath an alcove, avoiding another Spike Pillar, then jump up onto some platforms to get the final Star Coin. Then head back and enter the boss door.

Battle[]

Cheepskipper

Upon reaching the boss arena, Mario will fight the boss, Cheepskipper, a large purple Cheep Cheep, accompanied by smaller red Cheep Cheeps. Mario needs to wait until Cheepskipper jumps out of the body of water and attack him. Preferably, it is easier to jump on him three times instead of using a Fire Flower, Blue Shell, or Ground Pounds. The other Cheep Cheeps will also jump out of the water, so they should be carefully avoided.

Defeating Cheepskipper grants access to World 5.

Enemies[]

Star Coins[]

  • Star Coin 1: The first Star Coin is located in a small alcove below the main path. Drop down and get the Star Coin but be sure to time your movements to avoid being hit by the incoming Spike Pillar.
  • Star Coin 2: After passing the section with the Whomps, use the rope but swing to the left and climb up and drop down to grab the second Star Coin above the Whomp which was previously too high to reach.
  • Star Coin 3: The final Star Coin is located in an alcove just past the boss door. Duck underneath the wall and wall jump up to the alcove to get the Star Coin but watch out of the Spike Pillar.
