World 1-Airship is the eighth and final level of Grass Land in Super Mario Bros. 3. It is the first airship, and features a boss fight against Larry Koopa. Completing the level allows Mario or Luigi to continue on to the next world, Desert Land.
Layout[]
The level starts with Mario/Luigi jumping on the airship. There are two cannons and a Bill Blaster. Mario must dodge the cannonballs and the Bullet Bills. Then, there are more cannons and Bill Blasters that try to harm Mario/Luigi. The player must avoid the hazards and get to the Question Box. Where the player can decide whether to hit it or not. Going forward, there is a four-way cannon that shoots cannonballs in all sides. Mario/Luigi must avoid them and get past the next two cannons and Bullet Blaster. After that, there is a gray Warp Pipe. Mario/Luigi must enter the Warp Pipe to face Larry Koopa.
Boss Battle[]
Larry Koopa will move towards Mario/Luigi and will try to harm them by shooting magic beams from the wand, Mario/Luigi needs to jump on Larry Koopa three times to defeat him. Shooting fireballs at Larry Koopa (if the player is Fire Mario/Luigi) can also harm him. After Larry Koopa is defeated, Mario/Luigi must get the wand and give it back to the king. Who then gives Mario/Luigi a letter from Princess Toadstool and Mario/Luigi moves onto World 2.
