A world is a type of location featuring a collection of levels.
Description[]
Worlds appear in many Mario platformers, the first being Super Mario Bros.. In many 2D platformers, worlds are titled "World," followed by its number in progression order (e.g. World 1 is the first world). Levels in worlds with such a name typically include the world name, followed by a dash, and the level number in progression order (e.g. World 1-1). In New Super Mario Bros. and New Super Mario Bros. 2, levels accessed via alternate paths or behind a path initially blocked off by a Star Coin Sign tend to instead have a letter representing the level name (e.g. World 1-A).
