Wood Blocks are an object in the Super Mario series. They first appear in Super Mario Bros. 3.

Description[]

Wood Blocks are a hard, indestructible type of block used mainly as a platform. They function identically to Hard Blocks, which Wood Blocks even replace in some of their appearances, such as Super Mario Bros. 3. Sometimes, if Mario or Luigi runs into the side of a Wood Block, he gets bounced away. Some Wood Blocks are located near pits as an obstacle. Some Wood Blocks contain a power-up item, similarly to certain ? Blocks, but a Wood Block can release its power-up item upon being touched.

In Super Mario series[]

Super Mario Bros. 3[]

Wood Blocks are found in several levels. A Chain Chomp is usually found attached to a Wood Block. There are larger Wood Blocks in the fourth world, Giant Land.

In the remake Super Mario Advance 4: Super Mario Bros. 3, a few World-e levels—Classic World 1-1, Classic World 1-2, and Classic World 2-2—use Hard Blocks instead of Wood Blocks, due to being a recreation of a level from Super Mario Bros..

Super Mario 3D Land[]

Wood Blocks mostly appear instead of Hard Blocks, owing to the game's Super Mario Bros. 3 theme.
