Stages, locations, or levels with a winter theme are areas that usually take place in the cold with icy or snowy conditions. It's one of the many reoccurring themes within the series.

Other Traits and Features

Winter-themed stages tend to associate with a lot of ice and snow making progress tedious at times. Winter-themed stages tend to come late in a certain game and, at some times, is the penultimate theme before the final themed level (which is usually fire themed). More traits usually include items or objects being frozen in ice that usually needs to be melted. The enemies tend to be bundled up for the cold or be made of ice or snow themselves. Certain characters may also live in winter-themed areas as well (such as the penguins from Paper Mario).
