Wings are attached to various objects and creatures, allowing them to fly. They first appear in Super Mario Bros., being attached to a Koopa Paratroopa's shell.

Description[]

Wings do not always guarantee the ability to fly, especially if they are small. For instance, the Wing Cap in Super Mario 64 is like Mario's cap aside from having a pair of wings, allowing Mario to glide while in midair.

In Super Mario 64 DS[]

Wings are items that act as the replacement of the Wing Cap from Super Mario 64, and touching it turns a character in to their Wing form. Usually, only Mario can make use of the Wings, which appear within certain Red Blocks that would otherwise release a Power Flower for one of the other playable characters. Despite its name, the Wings have the appearance of a white feather, although they add two wings to Mario's Cap temporarily, while he is Wing Mario.

In VS mode, feathers appear within in two courses: Sunshine Isles and Battle Fort. They can be picked up by any character; for Luigi and Wario, they add wings to their cap, like with Mario, but for Yoshi, he grows wings on his back.
