Whomp Stomp is aMid-boss Battle mini-game from Mario Party 9. In "Solo" mode, it appears in Bob-omb Factory at the mid-boss fort. In "Party" mode, it appears as one of three games that can be selected there, and has a 50% chance to show up at other boards' mid-boss fort. As its name implies, a Whomp stars as the players' opponent.

Introduction[]

A Whomp that serves as the players' opponent is dropped onto a platform, scaring the player that he lands behind with his entrance.

Gameplay[]

The minigame is a game with luck with some skill involved. You have to pick a number between 0 or 1. You have 10 seconds to decide. After the players pick their numbers, those who picked 1 will turn the lever, with each lever pulled rotating the platform. Afterwards, the Whomp will fall onto his face, crushing the character in front of him beneath himself; this takes away a point in later rounds if the target had at least 1 point and prevents them from attacking the Whomp. Players who did not fall victim to the Whomp's attack climb onto him and attack by pounding his back with Ground Pound strikes, earning 3 points per strike to his back.

Rage[]

As with other bosses in the game, the Whomp will rage when his health falls below half. As Whomp rages, he'll add +1 or +2 turns by stomping on the number before the players decide on a number.

Ending[]

The Whomp is shown lying on his face, exploding afterwards.

Controls[]

The Wii Remote should be held vertically when playing.

  • +Control Pad left - 0.
  • +Control Pad right - 1.
  • A Button (on ground) - Jump.
  • A Button (in mid-air) - Pound.

Trivia[]

  • This is one of three boss minigames where at least one player is bound to get hurt, due to the Whomp always attacking the player in front of him.
