Whimps are tiny form of Whomps. They are summoned by the Whomp King in Super Mario Galaxy 2 when he stomps his feet. They are also a tad faster than a basic Whomp. After the Whomp King is hit, he will summon three (five after the second hit) Whimps to attack Mario (or Luigi). The Whimps will chase after Mario (or Luigi) and when they reach him, they will jump and fall like a standard Whomp self destructing in the process. If a Whimp does manage to hit Mario (or Luigi), it will do one damage rather than taking all of it. Whimps can also be defeated by Star Spinning into them or with ground pounds, additionally, they disappear when the Whomp King makes his move to attack.

- "Whimp" is a portmanteau of Whomp and Thwimp, which are small and weaker versions of Thwomps. (Just as Whimps are to Whomps)
- Notably, "Thwimp" is itself a portmanteau of Thwomp and wimp. "Wimp" and "whimp" are pronounced the same, making the pun come full circle.
- They are about the same size as Mario.
- The Whimp's sound is a high-pitched version of the Whomp's.
- This may be hard to notice while playing, but the back of a Whimp looks just like the tileset of the battle arena. This implies the arena is made of Whimps, and they get kicked up by the Whomp King during the fight.
