A Wheelie is a technique that can be done on a bike in Mario Kart Wii and Mario Kart 8. Players flick the Wiimote upward or press up on the D-pad on a Nintendo GameCube Controller or Classic Controller for the biker to get up on one wheel, increasing their speed but decreasing their control. While doing a wheelie, players are more affected by contact with other vehicles. Braking or a down-flick of the Wiimote/pressing down on the D-pad stops the wheelie. Wheelies can only be done while boosting in Mario Kart 8.
