Wall Ball is a minigame featured in the Mario Baseball series. It first appears in Mario Superstar Baseball and makes a reappearance in Mario Super Sluggers. In both games, Wall Ball is hosted within Princess Peach's stadium, Peach Garden from Mario Superstar Baseball and Peach Ice Garden from Mario Super Sluggers.
In Mario Superstar Baseball's Challenge mode, Wall Ball, like other four starting minigames, Bob-omb Derby, Chain Chomp Sprint, Piranha Panic, and Barrel Batter, can be played up to three times as an opportunity to obtain additional coins.
Gameplay[]
The objective for each player is to score the most points. Here, they have to throw a ball into a row of Brick Walls to earn points.
In Mario Superstar Baseball, the minigame is turn-based, and the points are represented by coins. It features three types of walls: a Brick Wall, a ♪ Wall, and a Bowser Wall. Each player tries to hit the ♪ Wall, which is worth 100 points. Brick Walls are worth five points each, and Bowser Walls have to be avoided because if a character throws a ball into one, they lose half of their coins, which are equally divided amongst the other characters. A meter is displayed on the right side of the screen, and it shows the strength in which a character throws a ball.
In Mario Super Sluggers, the minigame is no longer turn-based, and the game camera is fixed on the characters unlike Mario Superstar Baseball, which has the camera at an angle from the brick wall and the characters standing in the back. The minigame now uses actual points for each character's score. The walls are now known as blocks, and the only returning one is the Bowser Block, and hitting one instead causes whoever threw the ball at it to lose fifty points. The other two are the Green Blocks and Pink Blocks, the latter having Princess Peach's tiara on top, although there are regular light blue blocks as well, essentially replacing the Brick Walls from Mario Superstar Baseball. Green Blocks are worth a small bonus if hit last whereas Pink Blocks are worth a higher bonus if hit last, so the latter essentially replaces the ♪ Wall from the previous game.
