The Volcanic Smoke is an obstacle first introduced in New Super Mario Bros. Wii . back in 2009. It appeared in World 8 as a reminder to get going.
Objective[]
The point of the Volcanic Smoke is to add difficulty to the World 8 levels of New Super Mario Bros. Wii . It chases the players. If they players aren't fast enough. The toxic ash consumes them. Killing them instantly or making them lose their power-up.
In Other Games[]
Volcanic Smoke later appears in Super Mario 3D World. When the player collects the five Key Coins in Trick Trap Tower in World 7, the tower will start to collapse, leaking volcanic smog, forcing the player to evacuate using the Warp Block that is activated by the Key Coins and lies at the bottom.
