Underground Mysteries is the second level of World 2 in Yoshi's Island DS, a Pink Yoshi takes control in this level. Most of this level takes place in an underground cavern which consists of small tunnels which make heavy use of Baby DK's DK Dash Attack to plow through the dirt blockages. There is also a Mole Tank morph where Yoshi can plow through a maze of dirt. The level itself is widely populated by Lantern Ghosts as suggested on the level's avatar.
Walkthrough[]
Starting off the level, advance to the right (there is a Piranha Plant on the right but killing it won't do much) and enter the Pipe.
Upon reaching the underground, advance to the right and watch out for the rolling Chomp Rock. Hop up to the toadstool to obtain the Smiley Flower above it, watch out for Nipper Plants and tag the Stork Stop to switch to Baby DK (if you haven't already) because you will be needing his climbing abilities for the path forward. Move to the right and climb the vine upward and then advance to the left, use a DK Dash Attack to plow through the dirt blockages and then continue to the left. Use another DK Dash Attack to plow through another set of dirt blocks and kill the Lantern Ghosts by them, from here, grab the Coin and Red Coin above. Advance back to the right and take the upper path, do a series of DK Dash Attacks to plow through the dirt blockages and obtain the Coins, next ground pound the dirt blockages to advance downward, you will get a Red Coin during your descent, advance to the left and toss an egg at the Winged Cloud to get some Stars and ground pound the dirt blockages to progress downward grabbing yet another Red Coin during your descent, after this, advance to the right to enter the next section.
Upon entering the next section, advance to the right and plow through the dirt blocks and grab the Coins, from here, hop onto the mushroom and plow through the dirt blocks to the left to get the Coins. After this, advance to the right and plow through the dirt blockages (be sure to stand right next to the dirt blockages before plowing as you might become a snack for the Piranha Plants below if you plow further away), there are three sets of blockages, once all three are plowed through and the Coins are collected, hop up and ground pound the dirt blockages to descend downward, upon falling way down, you will come across a Morph Bubble, tag it to transform into the Yoshi Mole Tank. From here, move your way up the wall and through the maze plowing through the dirt in your way. Keep plowing through the dirt, if the effects seem like they're about to run out, grab another Morph Bubble (these extend the effects time length), the maze has five Red Coins (they come in sets of three and two respectively) upon collecting all the goodies, navigate your way through the maze and hit the Yoshi Block at the end and advance to the right to continue to the next area.
In the next area, ground pound the Stakes (Baby DK's ground pounds are strong enough to single-shot the Stakes if the down button is held down), from here, beat the Lantern Ghosts and Shy Guys, hop onto the mushroom platform and onto the rock platform, ground pound the two Stakes to reveal a hidden Winged Cloud, hit it with an egg to get a Key which can be used to enter the hut on the platform to the left to play the Tulip Shooter minigame (be sure to ground pound the Stake by the hut, there is a Red Coin inside of it). Once done, adbvance to the right and tag the Middle Ring and hop up to the platform, shoot a egg at the Fly Guy flying amidst the coins, with Baby DK, the explosion from the impact creates a shockwave that collects the Coins within the radius (if you missed any Coins, you can toss eggs to get them or make some risky flutters). Tag the Stork Stop and switch to Baby Peach and fly the wind to the upper platform, collecting the Coins and Red Coin, from here, hit the Winged Cloud to create a path-bridge to the other side, then switch to Baby DK at the Stork Stop (there is an Egg Block here which is useful for filling up your egg supply) and advance to the left and plow through the dirt filling in the wall (this can also be achieved with an egg, hit the Winged Cloud that's revealed upon plowing away the dirt to get a Smiley Flower, then advance to the right and grab onto the rope, ride it to the right and grab the vine, drop down to get the Baby Coin below the vine and move to the right to get the Coins and Smiley Flower along the vines. Once this is done, move back to the left along the bridge-path (hit the hidden Winged Cloud above the bridge to get some more Stars) then work your way back to the Stork Stop and switch to Baby Mario as you are going to be needing him for the rest of the level. Advance back to the right and drop down (by the Flatbed Ferry and hit the M Blocks to reveal a Flower Plant, use the Sunflower to reach the upper ledge then push the Box you see here to the right and use it to hop up to the platform to grab the Coins, two Red Coins, and a Smiley Flower, then drop down and ground pound the Box for some Stars (if you ground pound the Box beforehand, don't panic, just slurp one of the Shy Guys or Lantern Ghosts in the area and bounce off it to reach the ledge). Advance to the right and beat the Stilt Guys in your way, ground pound or egg the dirt here to get the Coins and reveal the Winged Cloud that contains Stars. Once done, enter the Pipe to exit the cavern.
Once back aboveground, jump on the Ferris Wheel to get some Coins and hit the Winged Cloud for Stars but watch out for the Windbag above, it blows Nipper Spores (from the Nipper Dandelion by it) down which sprout into Nipper Plants. Advance to the right and hit the hovering Fly Guy above to get his Red Coin, then beat the Stilt Guys walking the bridge and pound the Stake to get the Coins and four Red Coins, from here, egg the dirt blockage to get the Key which allows you to play a minigame in a hut to the left (Flutter Challenge), move to the right and hit the Winged Cloud for some more Stars (or Coins) and hit the Fly Guy carrying the Red Coin here, drop down and move to the niche to the left to hit another INVISIBLE Winged Cloud with even more Stars, next ground pound the cracked stone (only Baby DK's egg throws are strong enough to break it open with an egg and pound the Stake it was blocking to grab the Smiley Flower, next grab the Coin as well as the final Red Coin beside it and then jump through the GOAL! Ring to finish the level.
Baby Coin Location[]
After using Baby Peach to ride the wind upward, use the Stork Stop on the ledge to switch to Baby DK, from here, drop down to the rope and ride it across the track and then jump to the vine, the Baby DK Coin is at the vine's end, lower yourself down to grab it.
