For the WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! microgame of the same name, see Ultra Hand (microgame).

The Ultra Hand is a toy created by Nintendo during the mid-1960s, back when they were a toy manufacturer, and released in 1966, exclusively in Japan. The Ultra Hand was created by Gunpei Yokoi. It has commonly appeared in the Wario games but rarely within any Mario games.

Description[]

The Ultra Hand is a plastic toy with scissor-like handles, several criss-crosses connected together, and two round grips capable of grabbing certain objects. The Ultra Hand works as if it were extendable scissors; it extends by pushing the handles together and retracts by releasing them. The Ultra Hand comes with a three balls, colored red, blue, and yellow respectively, that it can grab along with a stand for each ball.

In WarioWare series[]

WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$![]

The Ultra Hand is the focus of the microgame of the same name. The object is to have the Ultra Hand grab a ball. In Level 1, there is only one ball. However, Levels 2 and 3 feature two and three balls respectively, and the difficulty in each command tells which specific ball to grab. This particular Ultra Hand has dark purple criss-crosses.

WarioWare: Touched![]

An Ultra Hand is used in the microgame Clawing for More, which is similar to the Ultra Hand microgame from WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$!, but the player now has to use the Stylus to move the Ultra Hand's handles toward one of the balls.

WarioWare Gold[]

The Ultra Hand is the main feature of the boss microgame Clawing for More. In it, the player must use an Ultra Hand, depicted with blue handles and criss-crosses, to grab a fish out of a man's back pocket without him noticing and then drag the fish to give to one of the cats. After this, another fish drops into the man's back pocket, followed by another after the second cat has been fed. Once the Ultra Hand is used to feed all three cats, the player wins the microgame, but if the man notices the Ultra Hand, they lose.

The Ultra Hand is also one of the souvenirs under the Nintendo collection.

WarioWare: Get It Together![]

The Ultra Hand appears in the multiplayer mode Sly Angle.

In Mario Power Tennis[]

Wario uses an Ultra Hand, although with a white glove hand at the end, to hold his tennis racket during his Offensive Power Shot Ultra-Hand Return. This Ultra Hand has light gray criss-crosses.

In Wario: Master of Disguise[]

One of Wario's disguises, Genius Wario, involves him using an Ultra Hand but with a red boxing glove at the end.

In Mario Kart 8 / Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]

Although Ultra Hands do not appear, the anti-gravity section of GBA Mario Circuit is held up by car jacks known as Ultra Arms, referencing the Ultra Hand.

Profile[]

  • WarioWare Gold souvenir: This was the first product in Nintendo's Ultra series, a fun toy you could use to grab and snatch distant things. It's hilariously handy when you're feeling lazy.
