Mario Party

Twist Ending is a Free-for-All mini-game in Mario Party 9.

Opening[]

The captain walks into a room toward a Treasure Chest, then the screen divides into four to show each of the characters.

Gameplay[]

The object is to twist a dial with eight marks until it unlocks a treasure chest. To have their character twist the dial, the player must twist their Wii Remote to the right direction and line up the dial's red line with the mark on the chest. The speed in which the dial turns depends on the angle at which the player twists the Wii Remote. If the dial's mark passes the chest's, the player must spin the dial around once more until the marks align.

After a character unlocks the bronze treasure chest, they then have to open the smaller silver chest contained within it. The silver chest has twelve marks and a faster-spinning dial. Inside the silver chest is an even smaller golden chest, which has sixteen marks and an even faster-moving dial. Whoever unlocks all three chests first is the winner.

Ending[]

Whoever opens the golden chest first gets a big diamond, followed by the character in second receiving a medium-sized diamond and the character in third place receiving a small diamond. The character in last place gets a tiny diamond only if they open the chest within seconds of the character in third opening theirs.

Controls[]

The Wii Remote has to be held vertically for the minigame.

Flavor text[]

  • Rules: Unlock the treasure chests by twisting their dials until the marks line up. Be the first to unlock all three chests to win!
  • Controls: Hold the Wii Remote vertically. Tilt it in the direction of the arrow to turn the dial. The angle of the tilt changes how fast the dial turns.
