Paper Mario Mario Party Super Mario
Not to be confused with Tweeter, Twister, or Whirlwind.

Tweesters are a species which have made a few appearances in the Mario games. They first appear in Paper Mario.

Profiles[]

Physical description[]

Tweesters are tornado-like creatures with large, bushy, black eyebrows, a pair of black eyes, and a mouth with two teeth on the upper jaw. In Super Mario Galaxy, Tweesters have larger eyes, featuring white sclera, and debris such as skulls and bones can be seen spinning inside of them.

Behavior[]

A Tweester attacks by attempting to touch Mario or another playable character, sending them into the air. Tweesters are more of an obstacle as they cannot damage the character directly. In Super Mario Galaxy, a Tweester can sometimes be helpful, as Mario or Luigi can use them to traverse obstacles. There are a few Tweesters with spiked debris spinning around them, and Mario or Luigi have to avoid contact with these Tweesters, otherwise they take damage.

In Paper Mario[]

Here, they are named Whirlwinds. They are found in Dry Dry Desert, where if Mario comes into contact with a Tweester, it forcefully blows him one screen to the north and another screen to the east. Whirlwinds generally have to be avoided, as they can cause Mario to become lost as he explores the area. However, there is one Whirlwind that Mario has to use to go on top of a high rock with the Spin Attack Badge.

In Mario Party series[]

Mario Party 5[]

A Tweester is featured in the minigames Twist 'n' Out and Wind Wavers. There is also a capsule of it named Tweester Capsule.

One Tweester, generically referred to as a cyclone, makes an appearance. At one point it attacks the SS Brass, causing it to spin out of control.

In Super Mario Galaxy[]

Tweesters only appear in the Dusty Dune Galaxy, during the missions Blasting through the Sand and Purple Coins in the Desert. If Mario or Luigi touch a Tweester, it begins spinning around. The player can then spin the Wii Remote to have the Tweester launch Mario or Luigi into the air, causing him to whirl around in a Spin Jump-like fashion.
