The Triple Red Shells are an item in the Mario Kart series. They first appear in Mario Kart 64.
Description[]
The Triple Red Shells are the Red Shell equivalent of the Green Shell. By using the Triple Red Shells, three Red Shells circle the user's kart, acting as a shield that can block incoming items, namely Green Shells or Red Shells, but it cannot block a Blue Spiny Shell. With the Triple Red Shells out, the player can use the Red Shells individually.
In Mario Kart: Double Dash!!, the Triple Red Shells are a Special Item of Koopa Troopa and Paratroopa, as well as Piranha Plant and King Boo, who can use nearly any Special Item.
