Boost Pad MKW

Donkey Kong doing a trick on DK Summit in Mario Kart Wii.

Tricks are features in Mario Kart Wii, Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8. It allows players to do tricks and moves in the air. When the player lands on the ground, he or she gets a boost. This makes doing a trick a way of going faster. Tricks can be done on any thing that launches the player into the air (like a ramp or a wavy track).

In Mario Kart Wii, tricks can be done when flicking the Wii Wheel or Wii Remote up when going off a ramp or something that will launch the racer into the air. It also can be done by pressing the top arrow button on the Nintendo GameCube controller.

In Mario Kart 7 and Mario Kart 8, tricks can be done when pressing the R button when going off a ramp or something that will launch the racer into the air.
