Treasure Square is the hub area in Wario World.
Layout[]
The main area of Treasure Square is the Courtyard, which consists of a circular plaza lined with patches of grass and small gazebos containing books, which Wario can attack for the player to save their game progress. There are five areas that branch off the Courtyard area, four of which are a hub for each of the worlds—Excitement Central, Spooktastic World, Thrillsville, Sparkle Land—and the final area is the huge treasure chest, which contains the Black Jewel.
In the path leading to the huge treasure chest, there is a section of eight smaller chests where the play various microgames from WarioWare, Inc.: Mega Microgame$! on their Game Boy Advance, provided they have a Nintendo GameCube Game Boy Advance Cable connected. These microgames can be unlocked as Wario gradually collects the treasures in all eight courses.
Treasure Square could possibly be the remains of Wario's Castle after it had been destroyed in the opening cutscene.
In Wario World[]
After the opening cutscene or subsequently whenever the game is started up, a small scene is shown of Wario landing into the Courtyard area. This also occurs if Wario falls into a pit or pool of water anywhere within the area, rather than take damage or fall into Unithorn's Lair like in the courses.
Just before the final battle, after Black Jewel has been released from the huge treasure chest, it destroys most of Treasure Square, including the entire Courtyard and branching areas, which sinks beneath the clouds, leaving only a translucent, circular platform to stand on. When Wario defeats Black Jewel, the remnants of Treasure Square are destroyed, but the Spritelings offer Wario to rebuild his castle in its place.
