Tread Carefully is a Microgame in WarioWare: Touched! In its debut appearance, it could show up in Mike's level and any microgame that uses the microphone of the Nintendo Dual Screen handheld console. The microgame later appears in WarioWare Gold, being featured in Shag the Fronk's group and having a chance to pop up in the Dancing Team and Potluck Gang levels.
Layout[]
The scene depicted involves a tightrope that Fronks are using as a bridge to cross a gap against a grey sky. WarioWare: Touched! hides their tightrope bridge's destination. Originally, there are six Fronks, and the front five hold their arms out to balance, while the one in the back holds up a circular sign that displays crossed-out lips, indicating to not blow into the microphone. Four of the Fronks, including the Fronk holding up the sign in back, are yellow, with the remaining two being blue and red. In WarioWare Gold, both ends of the tightrope are shown, and the Fronks all hold signs, with the one in front holding the bottom half of a Nintendo 3DS with the buttons highlighted (the symbol that represents the Mash control scheme) being crossed out to indicate to not touch the buttons, the second Fronk holding a sign with the top half of the console with two-way curved arrows beside it (the symbol that represents the Twist control scheme) being crossed out to indicate to not twist or turn the system, and the third Fronk holding a sign with the bottom half of the console with a red stylus poking the screen (the symbol that represents the Touch control scheme) being crossed out. There is also a boulder above the tightrope.
Gameplay[]
To win, players must refrain from blowing into the microphone of their system. In the Gold version they must also avoid pressing the buttons, moving the circle pad, tapping the screen, or (in a similar manner to Fragile! from WarioWare: Twisted!) tilting the system.
Failure Animations[]
Trigger/Offending Action | Result | Notes |
---|---|---|
Button Pressing | The boulder falls onto the tightrope, causing the latter to collapse and the Fronks to fall into the gap; if it catches the Fronks in its path, the boulder simply knocks them towards the screen, with all four falling short. | This animation is exclusive to WarioWare Gold. The offending button is imprinted on the boulder. |
Moving Circle Pad | ||
System Tilting | The stakes get knocked off-kilter, their movement shifting the tightrope which causes the Fronks to fall off it. | This animation is exclusive to WarioWare Gold. The player only fails if the stakes tilt too far. |
Screen Tapping | The tapping triggers earthquakes which knock the Fronks off the tightrope. | This animation is exclusive to WarioWare Gold. |
Mic Blowing | The Fronks fall off the tightrope due to a gust of wind. | This animation occurs in both games. |
Behind the Scenes[]
Etymology[]
The microgame's name refers to a phrase that means "to exercise precaution."
Trivia[]
- This microgame was created to discourage players from interacting with the microphone before a microgame starts and to give players a moment to calm down heavy breathing patterns.
- This is the only pop-up microgame to have eight beats as the time limit, with the rest having just four.
