The front and back of a Transfer Pak
The Transfer Pak is an accessory for the Nintendo 64 that allow for the transfer of certain data from a specific Nintendo 64 game to a specific Game Boy Color game and/or vice versa.
The Transfer Pak was originally released in Japan in 1998 before released in overseas markets in 2000. It was most notably used for early Pokémon games, starting with Pocket Monsters Stadium and its international counterpart Pokémon Stadium, to transfer data both to and from the Generation I core series games. The Transfer Pak was also used for Pokémon Stadium 2, which also featured compatibility with Generation I core series games, and with the addition of the Generation II core series games.
Relation to Mario[]
A few Camelot-produced Mario games made use of this feature, including Mario Golf and Mario Tennis for the Nintendo 64, which could have their data transferred both to and from Game Boy Color games Mario Golf and Mario Tennis, respectively.
One Mario game for the Nintendo 64DD, Mario Artist: Paint Studio, also made use of the Transfer Pak, which is compatible with Japanese Game Boy Cameras.
