Super Mario

Trampoline Time is one of Mario's minigames in Super Mario 64 DS and a Variety minigame in New Super Mario Bros.. The background music is an arrangement of the Secret Course theme from Super Mario Sunshine.

Layout[]

The minigame takes place around a construction site in a city with a starry night sky. The tint differs between the Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros. variations of the minigame, as well as the cities in the background. There is a red structure to the left and right, the latter of which has an opening alternating between the top or bottom, and the open one has yellow lighting and can be entered to leave the area. A large trampoline with the the M emblem is at the very bottom.

Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros. feature different icons for the minigame, with the former depicting Mario facing the screen while jumping while the latter shows Mario looking at the trampoline as he falls to it. The New Super Mario Bros. icon also depicts red girders in the background, unlike the minigame itself.

Gameplay[]

The player has to use their Stylus to draw trampolines that the Mario clones can bounce from to reach the exit. The minigame starts with three Marios emerging from the red structure, one after the other. The player can only draw three trampolines onscreen at a time, with the exception of the large trampoline at the bottom, which disappears if landed on three times. If a Mario lands on the center of a trampoline, he can perform an even higher angle. If a Mario hits a wall at a certain angle, he jumps off it for even more vertical distance. Each time a Mario safely reaches the exit to the right, the player earns a point. The exit on the right randomly switches between the higher and lower floor.

As is typical of minigames with no time limit, Trampoline Time becomes increasingly harder as the player progresses. For every ten Marios that exit the area, the structure becomes slightly higher, although it cannot go any higher if the player has reached 60 points. Marios also appear at a faster rate as the minigame progresses. If three Marios fall off-screen, it is a Game Over.
