Super Mario

Trampoline Terror is one of Mario's minigames in Super Mario 64 DS. It shares similarities to Trampoline Time, and both use the same background music, which is that of the Secret Course from Super Mario Sunshine. This minigame is unlocked by capturing Mario's rabbit on the second floor of the Mushroom Castle.

Layout[]

The minigame takes place in a night sky, with clouds at the bottom, and two tall stone towers with pointed red roofs, almost identical to the towers from Tower of the Wing Cap. On the top screen, there are many colorful stars in the background, and some of them are shooting through the sky.

Gameplay[]

Just like with Trampoline Time, a large white line is drawn on the bottom of the Touch Screen, until a big trampoline with Mario's red "M" symbol and circle on it is created. And exactly like with said minigame, it takes three jumps before it disappears, first turning yellow, then red beforehand. Despite its similar beginning and gameplay styles by creating trampolines with the stylus on the Touch Screen to bounce the Marios, there are multiple differences from Trampoline Time, in terms of actual gameplay goals.

The aim of the minigame is to score points by making the Marios jump through rainbow rings that can appear on both screens. Jumping through a ring with score 100 points, but if the player can bounce the Marios from multiple rings in a row, without jumping on another trampoline, the points get doubled. The rings can also be arranged in either random positions or in lined formations, horizontally or diagonally.

The player starts off with one Mario to play with. Once the player scores 1,000 points, second Mario jumps down. Upon scoring 5,000 points, three Marios will have to be controlled. Then, by scoring 10,000 points, the player has to manage with four Marios, and finally, by scoring 20,000 points, the fifth and final Mario appears. But the player still has three lives, and if three Marios fall off-screen, it is a Game Over.
