Tolstar, (ホッスィー Hosswī in Japanese), is a boss appearing in Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga. He lives in Stardust Fields and is the third boss of the game.
History
When Mario and Luigi find Bowser stuck in a cannon next to Hoohoo Village's entrance, they are stopped by Tolstar, who tells them he will only let Bowser go if they give him 10 Beanbean Coins. However, the Bros give him Mushroom Kingdom coins, so he sends Mario and Luigi away to collect 100 or more normal coins. When they do, he reveals his trick, refusing to get Bowser out of his cannon and battling the Bros.
When Tolstar was defeated, he gives them access to Hoohoo Village. When guards swarm Mario and Luigi, Tolstar tells the Hoohoo guards that the brothers did not imprison the missing Prince Peasley.
Battle
When Mario and Luigi battle Tolstar, he attacks with coughing out spiked balls and then throws them. He indicates which bro. he is to attack, depending on which hand he uses. When Tolstar laughs before throwing the spiked ball, the spiked ball simply bounces over the brothers, meaning they shouldn't jump. The bros. can attack him in any way of the sort. When he is defeated, he drops a 1-Up Mushroom.

- Tolstar may possibly be related to Spike, a similar-looking species of minor enemy that made its debut in Super Mario Bros. 3. They even share a similar attack pattern, with Tolstar coughing up spike balls and throwing them at Mario or Luigi. He even has the same shell. Tolstar also bears some resemblance to Tubba Blubba, in Paper Mario, and Grubba/Macho Grubba, in Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door.
- Tolstar has a similar personality to the Wiggler of Mario & Luigi: Bowser's Inside Story.
