"Time Out Luigi" is the twenty-ninth live-action segment of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. It is paired with the animated episode "Too Hot to Handle."

Plot[]

While Luigi is playing on his NES, a saleswoman named Angelica, shows up at Mario Bros. Plumbing. She claims to be the "Mysterious Salesperson for Weird and Spooky Gadgets Incorporated" and offers a few items like a crystal ball that tells the future, or a painting that ages while the owner stays young, but the Marios refuse both. Finally, she offers a wristwatch. Luigi buys it for four dollars. Mario then reveals it runs backwards.

Things start to go bad when Luigi wears the watch because he starts to do everything backwards, such as walking, talking, and dressing backwards. Mario attempts to remove the watch but can't. He realizes that the only one who can take off the watch is Angelica. She agrees to do so but she'll only do it for ten dollars. Mario pays and Luigi is finally freed of the watch's curse.

Trivia/Goofs[]

  • Luigi is playing Duck Hunt at the beginning of the show.
  • The painting the saleswoman tries to sell is a reference to The Picture of Dorian Gray.
  • The end scene where the characters are to say "Do the Mario" is done in reverse with both the music and words done backwards.
