Tikis are a ancient species who were the first inhabitants of Donkey Kong Island and created by Tiki Tong.[1] They first appear in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
Biology[]
Tikis are portrayed as creatures made of wood (or stone), faces painted and most of them have feathers. Many of them are shaped like musical instruments (most of them are membraphones). There are some that have firepower and are completely immune to lava (except those that are made of wood).
History[]
Background information[]
During the birth of the island, sereval Tikis were created by Tiki Tong to be inhabitants from place created by him.[1] They were the first inhabitants of the island as shown various elements in it. The Tikis became completely extinct be cause of Kong rebelion where they were destroyed one by one together with their leader.[1]
Donkey Kong franchise[]
In Donkey Kong Country Returns, several Tikis were summoned again by Tiki Tong when he awakens. The first Tikis summoned were through the Volcanic debris during the eruption caused by Tiki Tong where it shows Tiki Goons, Tiki Buzzes, Tiki Tanks and eight leaders of Tiki Tak Tribe. The minor Tikis are being produced at the abandoned Kremling factory and with magic of Banana Hoard.[2][3][4] But they got destroyed again by DK and Diddy to free the island from the tyranny of the Tiki Tak Tribe.
In Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, other Tikis like Screaming Pillars refuge itself in Bright Savannah.
Mario franchise[]
In Mario Kart 7 to Mario Kart 8, Tikis such as Tiki Goons and Screaming Pillars appear as obstacles on DK Jungle track.
Super Smash Bros. franchise[]
In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS, Tikis such as Tiki Buzzes appear as enemies in Smash Run. In Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, Tikis such as Screaming Pillars appear as obstacles in Jungle Hijinxs. In Super Smash Bros. for Nintendo 3DS through Super Smash Bros. for Wii U, most Tikis appear as trophies. In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, Tikis commanders of the Tiki Tak Tribe appear as spirits.
Trivia[]
The name is a term taken from Polynesian culture which in the Donkey Kong franchise seems to be just a generic word to describe the main enemies in Donkey Kong Country Returns.
