Tidal Fools is a 4-player Coin minigame in Mario Party DS.
Layout[]
The minigame takes place in a beach with some seashells on the sand. The minigame is shown from a bird's-eye-view. The minigame is only played from the Touch Screen, and an incoming wave can be first seen from the top screen before going down to the Touch Screen.
Introduction[]
The four characters are standing near the waves. Suddenly, one moves forth onto the sand, alerting the characters, who then run a short distance to avoid being drawn in by the waves. Once the waves make their way back into the ocean, the characters return to their initial position, and the minigame starts.
Gameplay[]
The objective for each character is to collect Coins, which are washed ashore by the waves. Whenever there is an incoming wave, the characters have avoid touching it, otherwise they get dragged by the wave to the top of the Touch Screen and become stunned for a few seconds, during which they cannot collect Coins. After a wave moves back into the ocean, some Coins are left behind on the sand, sometimes even a Red Coin, worth five individual Coins if collected. The occurs a few times before the 30-second Time Limit runs out.
Ending[]
Like any other coin-collecting minigame, whoever collects at least one coin does their victory animation, otherwise they do their losing animation.

- The minigame's name is a pun on "tidal pool."
