"The Wheel Thing" is the second episode of the Super Mario World television series.

Plot[]

Mario and Luigi watch the cave people struggling with carrying or dragging heavy loads around. Wanting to help them, Mario reinvents the wheel while Ludwig spies on the plumber. Soon the plumbers try to introduce the wheel towards the cavepeople and shows Princess Toadstool their new car factory which the Mario Brothers show how the car is made. While Mario is have a sleep and Luigi gets worried about the cave people using their cars, at the Neon Castle Ludwig builds a mechanical dinosaur. After the car crash caused by the cave people, they send Mario and Luigi down into the lava pit.

Ludwig shows King Koopa his new invention, which he calls Mega-Mechanosaur, and they invade Dome City. The Ooga the caveman warns Princess Peach about the invasion and tells her about the Mario Bros.'s banishment. She sends a springboard down the pipe to the Mario Brothers, who are running away from a Blargg. Mario uses the springboard to find a Feather to become Cape Mario, and he saves Luigi and escapes from the lava pit. At Dome City, Ludwig is destroying the city while at the car factory, Mario orders the cave people to place speed-bump logs, traffic lights, railway crossing and potholes to stop the mechanical dinosaur. After defeating "Big-feet", Mario and Luigi are celebrated which they agree to forget making more cars.

Trivia/Goofs[]

  • The Opening theme is played at a slower pitch than the other episodes.
  • Ludwig's mouth is colored as orange in this episode instead of peach like in The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3. This would later be corrected in the episode "Rock TV."
    • This is also Ludwig's only speaking appearance.
  • This is Bowser's first appearance on the show.
  • This marked the debut of the Cape Feather.
  • According to this episode, Princess seems to understand caveman language, even though she couldn't in the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show episode "Quest for Pizza." However, since Super Mario World is a chronoligically newer plotline, it could be said she learned the language between the two timeframes.
  • When Luigi asks Mario, “Does that mean what I 'tink' it means?”, Mario’s overalls and shirt are red.
  • When Luigi jumps in Mario's arms, both screaming when they see the Blargg, the "L" on Luigi's cap is white with a black background. After Mario says "Come fly with me Luigi," in the scene after, inconsistentcy could be seen if studied closely.
  • The colors of the levers in Ludwig's Mechanasaur robot change in different shots.
  • When Luigi says "Potholes," the L on his cap is green on a black background.
  • When Koopa and Ludwig reach the traffic lights, they flash green and the things stopping them come out. The lights should flash red.
  • When Yoshi is making potholes his eyes all of a sudden become smaller and revert back to normal.
  • When Luigi says "Your turn as traffic cop, Mr. Fender Bender", the "L" on his cap is white on a black background.
  • When Luigi first turns around to talk to Mario, the "L" on his cap is white on a black background.
  • When Mario hits the block with the Cape Feather, there are two blocks on the right, but there was only one block on the right in the previous shot.
  • When Luigi brings some wheels to Yoshi, Yoshi's arms are white.
  • At one point, Yoshi hollers "Let me try" but as the skateboard falls, Yoshi eats it, showing he lost the will to ride it.
