"The Painting" is the forty-sixth live-action segment of The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!. It is paired with the animated episode "Quest for Pizza."

Plot[]

Mario and Luigi are finally getting to their spring-cleaning when they come across an old painting. Wondering if it's worth anything they decide to get it appraised. Howard Stevens of Lifestyles of the Poor and Unknown (a spoof on Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous) comes and checks out the painting. He claims that's it's a very rare rendition of the "Second to Last Supper" by Leonardo DaVinci-Rooney, Leonardo DaVinci's teacher. Apparently DaVinci stole the picture from his teacher and painted the better known "Last Supper". The painting had disappeared over three hundred years ago and was thought to be lost. According to Howard, the painting is worth over one hundred zillion dollars.

The Mario's think they are rich but are soon brought down. Howard finds an imperfection in the picture proving it was not painted by DaVinci-Rooney but by Leonardo DaVinci-Mahoney, another student of DaVinci-Rooney. This painting, showing DaVinci-Mahoney's Uncle, is worthless. However, Howard hates to see the Mario Brothers go away with nothing, so he offers $7 for the frame, which the Mario Brothers take.
