"The Night Before Cave Christmas" is the fifth episode of the Super Mario World cartoon.
Plot[]
Mario, along with Luigi and Princess Toadstool. Mario notices that the Cave People aren't getting along very well as well as Yoshi and Oogtar. So he decides to introduce them to Christmas, despite it being the middle of August. (That is, hopes that they will become nicer to one another in spirit of the holiday.) Luigi insists that Mario must mean Christmas. (That is, which is too odd to think about as it is the middle of August.) But Mario says that since this is Dinosaur World, Christmas can happen anytime. His idea works on most of the cave-people, but Oogtar doesn't want to go through with behaving even after Mario tells him of Santa Claus. Meanwhile, King Koopa becomes curious as to what his nemesis is up to and is soon showing Bully Koopa what's going on.
Later, as Mario is putting on his Santa Claus outfit, Oogtar sneaks into his "workshop" to try to get the good toys first. And Luigi kicks Oogtar out the door before he (Oogtar) can grab anything from the toy workshop. Bowser sneaks in and steals the presents (to give to his kids), accidentally taking Oogtar with them. The Mario Bros. (Mario and Luigi) and the Princess find the sack of toys missing, as well as one of Bowser's scales. (Mario says, "THE TOYS! THEY ARE GONE!". Princess Toadstool says, "AND I KNOW WHO STOLE THEM! KOOPA HERE IS ONE OF HIS SCALES!".) So that night, Mario and Yoshi head for the Neon Castle to retrieve the toys.
Upon returning to his castle, Bowser finds Oogtar having stowed away in the bag and has him hung over a hungry pet dinosaur of his. He (Bowser) also concludes that Oogtar spelled backwards it is "Ratgoo". Luckily, Mario and Yoshi arrive and see Oogtar in danger, and make their way through the castle's traps just in time to rescue him. After Oogtar is rescued by Mario and Yoshi, Mario makes him confess that he (Oogtar) stole the toys.
After making Oogtar (who mistakenly thinks Mario is Santa) promise to be good, Mario retrieves the stolen toys and returns to Dome City so he and Yoshi (With wings found from a magic box) can make their deliveries. (Meanwhile, Bowser and the Koopalings are defeated once again. And the Koopalings end up with a lump of coal.) The next morning, Oogtar brings Mario a Christmas gift of his own.

- To date, this is the only Super Mario World episode to have had an NTSC home video release - it was included with the The Super Mario Bros. Super Show episode "Koopa Klaus" and the live-action segment "Santa Claus is Coming to Flatbush" on the VHS release Super Mario Bros. Super Christmas Adventures.
- A few clips from this episode were used in Nintendo TV commercials aired in Spain during Christmastime in 1992.[citation needed]
- When Peach carries the toys over to the bag, she places them beside the bag and not in it.
- In some countries, "King Scoopa Koopa" aired before this episode.
- This episode marks Roy Koopa's first speaking role.
- When King Koopa stole the presents, this is a reference to How the Grinch Stole Christmas!.
- Mario's cape power wore off, but in the game, he would lose his cape (or fire power) upon touching an enemy.
- Mario's cape power-up disappears after he rescues Oogtar, but the cape is still drawn on him in the shot where it comes off, only disappearing two shots later.
- When King Koopa and Bully are spying, only Koopa gets hit in the head with the nuts or berries, yet both of them go "OW!"
- When Luigi is first shown making toys, the "L" on his cap is white and the outline is black.
- After Mario says "So, what do you think?", a production label can be scene on the frame afterwards.
- When Oogtar opens a present, it starts behind his legs, then appears in between his legs as he rips the wrapping.
- When Bully and Koopa are spying in the trash can, Koopa's mouth is not on his face and is on the trash can on one frame.
- This episode, according to production number, is the last Mario episode to ever be produced.
