The Manta Storm is the first episode of Sirena Beach in Super Mario Sunshine.
Layout[]
The entire episode takes place outside of Sirena Beach, mainly because Hotel Delfino has been buried under a pile of electric goop. The Hotel Delfino manager is standing in front of where Hotel Delfino is usually located.
Objective[]
When Mario starts the episode, he has to go to the Hotel Delfino manager, who tells him of a large manta-like being who came from the sea and was responsible for sinking Hotel Delfino. As the Hotel Delfino manager is talking, he screams when the same creature, Phantamanta, slides onto the beach. Mario then has to defeat Phantamanta in a boss battle.
As Phantamanta moves around, it leaves behind a trail of electric goop. Mario can divide Phantamanta into two smaller beings by either spraying FLUDD at it for a while or by unleashing water from a Water Barrel onto it. As it is divided, Phantamanta's copies all move in random directions, each leaving behind a trail of electric goop. To defeat Phantamanta, Mario has to spray its copies until they can no longer divide. Once all of the Phantamanta copies are in their smallest possible form, they turn dark pink and angrily chase after Mario. Once every Phantamanta clone has been defeated, Hotel Delfino rises from the ground, all of the electric goop disappears from Sirena Beach, and the Shine Sprite appears.
Trivia[]
- Splatoon 3 references The Manta Storm in Big Man's boss fight, specifically his title, "The Hype Manta Storm," and the ink is colored after the electric goop.
