Tamao is a creature which appears in Super Mario Land. It is an indestructible, ball-shaped, bouncing life form encountered during the boss fight against Dragonzamasu in the Muda Kingdom.

Tamao is the guardian for Dragonzamasu, whom it assists by blocking the torpedoes fired from Mario's Marine Pop. Tamao is completely invincible, so Mario has to shoot around Tamao in order to damage Dragonzamasu. After Dragonzamasu is defeated, Tamao disappears as well.
