"Tag Team Trouble" is the tenth episode of The Adventures of Super Mario Bros. 3.

Plot[]

Toad is taking a bag full of one million gold coins to the local orphanage. As he does this, Larry Koopa and King Koopa are plotting to go after a different load of coins. King Koopa sees a solution, but Larry sees an easier solution: steal Toad's coins. Taking no notice, King Koopa moves on. Toad delivers the coins to the orphanage, but falls asleep before they are taken in. Toad wakes up and assumes that the coins were stolen. He then sees King Koopa's idea as well: The Tag Team Wrestling Tournament match. He signs his wrestler cousins up, as King Koopa signs the Sledge Bros. up. Larry then puts the cousins to sleep with hypnotism, and Toad is unable to wake them up. Mario and Luigi then discover what is happening and train with Toad to ready themselves for the match.

At the competition, the Mario Brothers, as the Masked Mashers of Mayhem, face the Sledge Brothers. Larry had rigged the place with traps, giving the Marios a hard time. Fortunately, Princess Toadstool gives both Mario and Luigi a Starman each. Using their powers, they easily defeat the Sledge Brothers, along with King Koopa and Larry. Toad then takes the money to the orphanage and discovers that the first bag of money was already received. After discovering this, Toad faints.

Trivia/Goofs[]

This is the only time the Mushroom Orphanage (which had been mentioned in various The Super Mario Bros. Super Show! episodes) is actually seen in an episode of the Mario cartoons.
An instrumental version of this episode's song, "Burn, Baby, Burn" was used to replace some of the featured songs in The Super Mario Bros. Super Show!.
When Mario and Luigi beat Koopa (King Koopa) and Cheatsy the star music still plays, even though the star ran out.
