Tackle Takedown is a 1-vs-Rivals mini-game in the Mario Party series. It first appears in Mario Party 9 and returns in Mario Party: The Top 100 and Mario Party Superstars.
Opening[]
The rivals are standing by a football, and one of them kicks into the air. The view zooms out as the football is caught by the solo character.
Gameplay[]
The solo character has to try and reach the goal line without being tackled by a rival. The solo player has three speed boosts for outrunning the rivals, or two in Mario Party 9 for whenever there are only two rivals. If the rivals tackle and miss, they fall and lose some time. The rivals win if one of them successfully tackles the solo player or if the 30-second time limit runs out. The solo character wins if they make it to the goal line on time.
Ending[]
If the solo character wins, they spike the football. In Mario Party 9, this is followed by the winning side doing a victory pose while the losing side groans. In Mario Party Superstars, after the football is spiked, the winning side performs their victory animation in the middle of the field, whilst the losing side performs their losing animation at the top-left.
