A Super Thwomp is the larger version of the Thwomp. As the title implies, it is an enlarged version of the Thwomp and due to this, is also stronger and possesses the power to break stone blocks. Aside from that one difference, they are identical. They debuted in New Super Mario Bros. and have been recurring enemies since.

Super Thwomps make their debut in the game New Super Mario Bros, first appearing in World 4-Castle, they can be seen smashing through stone blocks. One of the Super Thwomps is actually required to obtain the second Star Coin. Super Thwomps later appear in World 8-Bowser's Castle. For the most part, Super Thwomps are completely invincible and can only be destroyed with the effects of a Mega Mushroom or a Starman.

Super Thwomps appear again in the game New Super Mario Bros. Wii, only appearing in World 1-Castle, guarding the second Star Coin under some blocks and a stash of Coins under another set of blocks. Two other Super Thwomps appear in various corridors of the Castle. Super Thwomps are strong enough to smash through stone blocks just as before and once again, there is no way to destroy a Super Thwomp without a Starman.

Super Mario Galaxy 2

Super Thwomps return in Super Mario Galaxy 2. They appear twice in the Supermassive Galaxy and attack by slamming down just like a basic Thwomp. They are completely invincible and if Mario (or Luigi) is caught underneath a Super Thwomp, they are crushed and killed instantly (even if they have full Health). In this game, Super Thwomps are noticeably much bigger than in previous installments (possibly rivaling the size of the Security Thwomp).

New Super Mario Bros. 2

Super Thwomps return in New Super Mario Bros. 2 behaving as they did in past games. In this game, they can be found in World 1-Castle and World Mushroom-Castle and once again possess the power to destroy stone blocks making them useful for obtaining certain Star Coins. To defeat a Super Thwomp, the effects of a Mega Mushroom, Starman, Gold Flower, or an Invincibility Leaf can be used.

Super Thwomps return in New Super Mario Bros. U as well as New Super Luigi U and New Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe as semi-common enemies which behave as they did previously. They commonly appear in Fortresses and Castles such as Wendy's Shifting Castle and Wendy's Thwomp Castle, Thwomps this time also possess the ability to smash through masses of Brick Blocks descending right down them all while retaining their signature ability to destroy stone blocks. Super Thwomps can only be defeated with the effects of a Starman.

Super Thwomps appear once more in the game Super Mario Maker as well as it's two sequels as placeable enemies. They can be created my dragging a Super Mushroom onto a Thwomp. They can smash through brick blocks, clouds, and stone blocks and just like a regular Thwomp can now be spinned on safely. A Super Thwomp can only be destroyed with the effects of a Starman.

In Mario Kart Wii

The Super Thwomp in Thwomp Desert (Mario Kart Wii).

In Mario Kart Wii, a single Super Thwomp is seen in the center of the course Thwomp Desert as the only enemy. It is seen resting above a pit of quicksand and every so often, it will slam down in the center of the flowing sand causing massive sandy shockwaves which racers can preform tricks on. The Super Thwomp's pattern remains the same with each round. Being crushed by the Super Thwomp will cause you to lose half your Coins or a Balloon (depending on what mode is set). The Super Thwomp is so large, it is one of the only two hazards to be visible on the minimap, the other being the Chomp.
