Super Mario

Super Mario Galaxy is a sub-series of the Super Mario series. It is mainly a 3-D adventure game starring Mario (and Luigi at a certain point in the game) where he must rescue Peach from the clutches of Bowser. There are only two games from the Super Mario Galaxy series: Super Mario Galaxy and Super Mario Galaxy 2 (both released for the Wii). The former has been reissued as one of three games in the 2020 Nintendo Switch compilation title Super Mario 3D All-Stars[1], and later 2nd reissue with two games bundled together in the 2025 compilation title Super Mario Galaxy + Super Mario Galaxy 2.[2]

Gameplay[]

In both games, Mario mainly retains some of his techniques that were in Super Mario 64, Super Mario Sunshine, and Super Mario 64 DS which include the Wall Jump and the Long Jump. In the Galaxy games, Mario (and Luigi) has a new move called the Spin where it serves as his main means of attack. Spinning is also used to activate Sling Stars and Launch Stars to transport them to a different planet. The player can also point the Wii Remote at the screen to quickly collect Star Bits and feed Star Bits to Lumas.

Controls are a little different in Super Mario Galaxy 2 as the player can now use Yoshi in certain levels. Like always, Yoshi can be used to eat up enemies and unlocked certain areas. He is even used to battle certain bosses. This game also as a new mode where if Mario fails a mission over five times, then a Cosmic Clone called the Cosmic Spirit will take over and lead Mario right to the Power Star earning him a Bronze Star.
