WarioWare

Super Mario Bros. 3, originally titled Super Mario Bros. 3-Lift, is a recurring microgame in the WarioWare series. It first appears in WarioWare: Twisted!, as one of the microgames under 9-Volt's Spintendo Classics folder, and returns in WarioWare Gold, now as one of 18-Volt's microgames.

Layout[]

The microgame is based on Super Mario Bros. 3's original Nintendo Entertainment System version. It features Mario standing on a Rail Lift placed on a circular track in an area with a clear blue sky consisting of only two clouds. There is a Warp Pipe at the bottom on the left and right sides each, but neither of them can be used during the microgame.

The HUD from Super Mario Bros. 3 is displayed at the bottom. In WarioWare: Twisted!, only the right side of the player display at the bottom-left corner is visible, due to it being obscured by a bomb. In WarioWare Gold, the counter is no longer obscured, and it is shown to display an "M," for Mario.

Gameplay[]

The player has to move the Rail Lift that Mario is on to prevent him from being hit by enemies, which can include Bullet Bills, jumping Cheep Cheeps, and Venus Fire Traps. In WarioWare Gold, Rocky Wrenches are another enemy that has to be avoided.

  • Level 1: The Rail Lift has a big rotating capacity, making it easy to avoid enemies.
  • Level 2: The Rail Lift has a smaller rotating capacity, making it harder to avoid enemies.
  • Level 3: While the layout is shared with level 1, the player now also has to protect Luigi, who is standing on a separate Rail Lift.
