Super Bell

The Super Bell (also known as Cat Bell) is a power-up which first appears in Super Mario 3D World. It's appearance is a golden, striped bell with eyes. Hitting it out of a ? Block causes it to jingle, complete with a ringing animation. The Super Bell also has a variant named Invincibility Bell which grants invincibility.

Effects[]

The Super Bell can be used by Mario, Luigi, Toad, Rosalina, Bowser, Toadette and Peach. The user of it gains a Cat costume and has the ability to climb up walls. Also while in Cat Form, the user can perform a swipe attack, rather than knock enemies over, and a diving attack to usually defeat them in one hit. When Bowser uses a Super Bell, he becomes Meowser.

The Super Bell transforms the player into a Cat form. Thus the name Cat Mario originated (Cat Luigi, Peach, Toad, etc.)

In Super Mario 3D World/Super Mario 3D World + Bowser's Fury[]

The Super Bell is the main power-up featured. It is the first one to be collected, as it appears in Super Bell Hill.

When Mario gets the Super Bell, he gets special abilities similar to a cat (same goes for the other players). He can stay on a wall for a limited amounted of time, run on his arms and legs which gives him more speed, he can scratch enemies (but he has to get close to them), and when Cat Mario is in the air, he can perform a diving attack so that he pounces in a straight angle. With this ability, Cat Mario can also climb up the flag and get to the top to get a 1-UP.

In Mario Kart 8/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe[]

In Mario Kart 8/Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, the Super Bell is the emblem of the Bell Cup and a track called Super Bell Subway as a part of the Animal Crossing DLC.

In Super Mario Maker 2[]

In Super Mario Maker 2, the Super Bell can be obtained if you play in the Super Mario 3D World mode. Cat Mario's abilities (like Cat Luigi, Toad and Toadette) aren't any different from Super Mario 3D World.

Trivia[]

There is a variation of the Cat Bell called the Giga Bell in the sub-game Bowser's Fury, exclusive to the Switch version of Super Mario 3D World.
Them, along with the Lucky Bell, Invincibility Bell, Super Leaf and Invincibility Leaf, are the only power-ups with a unique animation.
