The system has a slot where the stylus can be placed, and the location of the slot varies depending on the stylus. Using a stylus is not required for touch functionality on the touch screen but rather makes it easier to utilize There are also touch pens, which are similar to styluses but thicker.
Mario-themed styluses have been released, often with a character at the end tip, meaning that these styluses cannot fully fit into a system's stylus slot.
