The Study is a room in Luigi's Mansion and its Nintendo 3DS version.

Description[]

The Study is a small room filled with books and bookshelves. There is also a lit fireplace in the back wall, a rocking chair to the left, and a desk to the right. Luigi can use the Poltergust 3000 on the ship-in-a bottle mounted above the fireplace and the desk in the room.

The Study is first accessible in Area One. It is the rightmost door in the hallway to the upper-left of the Foyer. Before Luigi can access the hallway to enter the Study, he has to obtain the key in the Wardrobe Room.

The Study is where the first Portrait Ghost, Neville, is fought, and he is always sitting on a rocking chair, on which he reads a book. Aside from Neville, a Speedy Spirit is hidden in the chair behind the desk, and a Gold Mouse is hidden in a block of cheese behind the desk. After Neville is vacuumed into the Poltergust 3000, a treasure chest containing the key to the Master Bedroom appears.

There are six readable books on the bookshelf: Book of Riddles, Neville's Big Baby Care Diary, Darkness is Their Cheese, The Book of Pericles, E. Gadd's Guide to Ghosts, and Lydia's Child Care Diary. To read these books, Luigi has to tap a certain area of the bookshelf. The books provide hints and information on various things, such as Gold Mice, Elemental Ghosts, and a hint on how to capture Henry and Orville.

During the blackout, only one red Grabbing Ghost is encountered here. If Luigi has not caught the room's Speedy Spirit or Gold Mouse the first time, the blackout gives him a second opportunity to.
