Star Dash is an unlockable minigame which appears in Mario Superstar Baseball. It takes place in the Bowser Castle baseball stadium. Star Dash is the only minigame that cannot be played in Challenge, as it is the only unlockable minigame.

The minigame features a birds-eye view perspective of the four bases similar to another minigame, Chain Chomp Sprint.
Gameplay[]
Star Dash features four participants, who have to move around and collect the coins and Coin Bags launched out from a tube in the center. A Coin Bag is worth ten coins, which spill across the field if the Coin Bag hits the ground. If a character collects a Coin Bag directly, they earn the ten coins, and a brief chime plays.
Aside from coins, the tube can sometimes release a Mushroom, and touching it causes the character to move around faster for a short period of time, just as in Chain Chomp Sprint. A Star may also sometimes be released, and collecting it grants the user temporary invincibility as well as faster movement like the Mushroom item. If a character gets touched by someone else under the invincibility effects of a Star, they become immobilized temporarily. In Special difficulty, there is also a Poison Mushroom, which must be avoided as it slows a character's movement temporarily.
The only obstacle is four Thwomps hanging above the field. Whenever a Thwomp is about to fall, a shadow is shown on the ground, indicating that it will fall there. All four Thwomps land around the same time in harder difficulty settings. If the Thwomp lands onto a character, they become immobilized for a few seconds. If a character touches a Thwomp while under the effects of a Star, the Thwomp gets knocked away.
Star Dash has a time limit of 60 seconds in every mode except Special, which instead has it set to 90 seconds. At the end, the characters are ranked by the number of coins they have collected, so whoever collected the most is the winner.
