Spiked Goombas are recurring enemies in the Paper Mario series. They are a variation of Goombas which have spiked hats on their heads. Their attack style is to jump on Mario and injuring him with their spikes. They have an additional point of attack damage.

Paper Mario

Spiked Goombas make their first appearance in Paper Mario on the way back to Goomba Village. They are the second enemy Mario encounters, excluding Jr. Troopa. They are underlings to the Goomba King but do not appear in battle with him.

Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door

In Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door, Spiked Goombas can be found Rogueport Sewers and in Petal Meadows. After Bowser's underlings take over the Rogueport Sewers, Spiked Goombas are rarely found. On occasion they will appear in battle with a Hammer Bro. or a Magikoopa.

Super Paper Mario

In Super Paper Mario, Spiked Goombas reappear as rather uncommon enemies. They cannot be jumped on at all and requires Pixls such as Boomer, Carrie, and Cudge in order to defeat them. Bowser's fire breath is another effective way to take out Spiked Goombas.
