The Spear, also known as the Torpedo outside North America, is a heavy bike in Mario Kart Wii. To unlock it, you must do one of the following:
- Unlock 12 Expert Staff Ghosts in Time Trials
- Win 200 WFC races
- Play 3,600 games
The Spear takes on an aerodynamic appearance. The character's emblem is always on the front and the character's colors adorn the face of the Spear.
The Spear is unique in which it has the most shortfalls in the game for a bike. It has bad handling, acceleration, off road, and drift. However, it has one of the best top speeds in the game and when used with skill and the infamous Funky Kong, it has been known to win many world and regional record time trials, particularly for courses that don't have tight turns.
The drifting patterns of the Spear are somewhat similar to the Flame Runner. However, the drifting is not as sharp and timing is required to be able to drift as effectively.
