Sparks are an enemy in Luigi's Mansion and its Nintendo 3DS version.
Profile[]
Physical description[]
Sparks are red, explosive, spike ball ghosts with a tail and pointed nose.
Behavior[]
Sparks are always found in groups of two. They emerge from walls, doors, or even a picture in the hallways of the mansion. A Spark automatically explodes after a few seconds. If Luigi is caught within the blast radius, he loses ten HP. Sparks also explode and injure Luigi upon contact, including if he vacuums them into his Poltergust 3000.
In Luigi's Mansion[]

There are three groups of Sparks in the mansion, and they are exclusively encountered in the hallways. The first two groups of Sparks are in the 2F Hallway, where one of the groups emerges from the framed mansion photograph on the leftmost side of the hallway, outside of Nana's Room, while the other second group emerges from a wall just before the staircase to the Safari Room. The last group of Sparks is in the Basement Hallway, where they emerge from a door that leads to a short passage to the Secret Altar.
The only way that Luigi can defeat a Spark is by spraying either water or fire on it, the latter causing it to explode. In the Nintendo 3DS remake, Luigi has to use either water or fire on a Spark to include it in the small ghost portrait of the Gallery.
In the Hidden Mansion in both PAL releases and the Nintendo 3DS version, Sparks appear more commonly throughout the hallways, and Luigi first encounters them in the 1F Hallway.
